1918 Rochet Schneider 16500 - Lot 30
1918 Rochet Schneider 16500 Coupé Chauffeur by Billetier and Cartier Chassis no. 12 Fully restored Collector's registration Rochet-Schneider, a Lyon-based manufacturer originally founded by Édouard Rochet and Théophile Schneider, expanded at the turn of the century with the creation of numerous models. In 1910, the range included four- and six-cylinder versions, from 12 to 28 HP, and continued to evolve with engines reaching 5.5 liters in displacement. Rochet-Schneider had a reputation for producing quality cars, so much so that French President Raymond Poincaré chose a 25 CV as his official vehicle. Rochet-Schneider had also developed a truck business, which survived longer than car manufacturing. The watchwords were sturdiness and endurance. The car we're presenting, a 16500 from 1918, bears witness to this. Equipped with a 40hp engine mated to a 4-speed gearbox, this Rochet Schneider is capable of reaching 90 km/h, a remarkable score for its era. Fully restored, this chauffeur coupé has recently been serviced and is running smoothly. 1918 Rochet Schneider 16500 Coupé Chauffeur by Billetier and Cartier Chassis no. 12 Fully restored Collector's registration A Lyon-based manufacturer originally founded by Édouard Rochet and Théophile Schneider, Rochet-Schneider expanded at the turn of the century, creating numerous models.
