RARE AND ASTONISHING FLINTLOCK BOXLOCK PISTOL... - Lot 40 - Osenat
RARE AND ASTONISHING FLINTLOCK BOXLOCK PISTOL WITH FOUR BARRELS, ONE HAMMER, ONE BATTERY. Round barrels, engraved at the muzzles, with forced bullet, safety at the rear of the hammer. Chest engraved with trophy arms, signed "Barough London" on one side and "W Brown" on the other. Re-entrant trigger. Flat-cheeked varnished walnut stock, checkered on the back, with silver thumb piece numbered "B". Caliber: 14 mm. B.E. Circa 1820. Possibly William BROWN Co in Aberdeen (Scotland). History: Sometimes called a "riot gun", it was probably used by British naval officers.
