RARE SEVEN-SHOT "NOCK" FLINTLOCK SALVO RIFLE. Hollow, smooth, thunder-punched seven-barrel stock with "H.NOCK" engraving on right side. Lock engraved with "TOWER" and "GR" under British crown, flat-bodied hammer. Brass lockplate, ramrod loops, trigger guard and buttplate. Walnut stock (two small old grooves). Iron ramrod. Barrel length: 50 cm. Overall length: 93 cm. B.E. Circa 1780 (plate engraving reapplied). History : Henry NOCK, gunsmith born in 1741, initially became the main bayonet forger in the British army. He went on to produce locks for Brown Bess rifles, then shotguns. Around 1780, the Royal Navy ordered 500 "salvo" rifles with smooth, rifled barrels from Nock.
