. RARE AND FINE CHILD'S HUNTING WHEELED PISTOL. Thunder-engraved, round, beaded muzzle barrel ending in two raised borders, bearing two hallmarks ("W.I." or "W.J."). Flat-bodied turntable finely engraved with a bird and foliate scrolls, with external spinning wheel, held in place by a circular flange and sparking basin. Round-footed dog with flat arm. Line-decorated jaw. Hammer spring held by a two-screw clamp. Superb, fine ebony mounting. Long shaft stock profusely and entirely decorated with engraved and inlaid deer antler scrolls, enriched with worked mother-of-pearl inlays, day engraved, representing a dragon, foliage and trophies. Counterplate decorated with figures, fantastical animals, birds, trophies and masks. Rounded trigger guard on the front, right-angled, flat on the back and iron ramrod ring. Engraved deer antler buttplate. Wooden ramrod with deer antler tip and iron pastille. Length: 49.5 cm. B.E. Circa 1580-1600. High quality. (Small traces of age and wear).
