Set of 21 documents concerning the family. 1676-1733. - LOUIS XIV. 2 documents signed "Louis", countersigned by François-Michel le Tellier, Marquis de Louvois, as Secretary of State for War. Lettres patentes granting the Marquis de La Vieuville, René-François de Coskaër (following the resignation of his father the Duc de La Vieuville, Charles de Coskaër) provisions of governor and lieutenant general of the province and country of Haut and Bas-Poitou, Châtelleraudais and Loudunais (Saint-Germain-en-Laye, January 6, 1676, oblong broadside on parchment, seal missing). Mandement octroyant par commission au duc Charles de La Vieuville la continuation de son commandement en Poitou, conjointement à son fils René-François (ibid., January 13, 1676, in-folio oblong sur parchemin, vestige de sceau). - 5 handwritten documents concerning the assumption of duties by the Marquis de La Vieville, René-François de Coskaër, in various parts of his government. - ORDER OF MALTA: CONTRERAS Y ARELLANO (Fernando) then Manuel PINTO DA FONSECA. 9 pieces signed (6 by the former and 3 by the latter) as vice-chancellors of the Order of Malta. Malta, early 18th century. Concerning the entry into the Order of Malta of Charles-Marie de Coskaër de La Vieuville, son of the Marquis de La Vieuville, René-François de Coskaër. Manuel Pinto da Fonseca would later become Grand Master of the Order. An adventurer, pleasure-lover and agnostic, the future Comte de La Vieuville left important memoirs that were only published in 2007. With a manuscript dated 1699 on the same subject. - LOUIS XV. 4 pieces signed (secretary), countersigned successively by Claude Le Blanc and Nicolas-Prosper Bauyn d'Angervilliers as Secretaries of State for War, 1719-1733. Brevets and a letter granted to Charles-Marie de Coskaër, concerning his military career in the French armies after his release from the Order of Malta.
