CUIRASSIER OFFICER'S CREST HELMET. - Lot 113
CUIRASSIER OFFICER'S CREST HELMET. Silver, Minerva style, decorated with a gutter around the edge of the turban. Gilded brass crest with gadrooned wings and engraved rain shield, adorned on the front with a Medusa head, a silver cuirass and a palmette on an amati background. Black horsehair mane. Black marine calfskin turban. Iron visor covered in marine calfskin, with brass snap ring. Chinstraps with 18 gilded brass scales (one scale missing) mounted on black velvet (later) with two drawstrings. Gilt bronze lion's head rosettes on silver discs (later model). Brass plume holder and scarlet feather plume. Inner headpiece in leather and black drape (later drape). A.B.E. First Empire period (deformations and small chips). The rosettes have been changed from troop stars to officer's stars, reproduced identically. The original pair of rosettes will be enclosed.
