RARE MAMELUK SABER FROM THE EGYPTIAN CAMPAIGN. Handle with horn plates and two plain silver rivet knobs. Guard with two straight olive quillons and two silver auricles, finely engraved with scrolls and crescents, connected to the hilt by three silver chains. Large, superb straight yatagan-shaped damascus blade, slightly curved at the tip, flat-backed, fully chased with flowers, foliage and friezes. Wooden scabbard covered with chagrin, sewn on the back with a silver spiral thread, with two large fittings and a strap bearing two silver suspension rings with embossed and engraved decoration of flowers, foliage, shells, scrolls and crescents. The chappe bears a signature on the top of the scabbard entrance. Crimson silk lanyard with two gold-embroidered olive tassels. B.E. Late 18th century, early 19th century.
