PAIR OF "BOUTET A VERSAILLES" FLINTLOCK PISTOLS OF THE GENERAL OFFICERS VENDEMIAIRE AN XII TYPE. Flintlock barrels with hairline rifling, slightly blurred at the muzzles, glazed polished, stamped "238" on the left sides, bearing six hallmarks on a gold background with thunderbolts: "LG", "NB", "LG", Boutet bar, "LG", "BG", underlined by a frieze of gold shells. Platinums signed "Boutet à Versailles" and flat-bodied hammers. Round iron basins with sparkle. Plain, cut and inlaid iron fittings. Light walnut crossbars, finely checkered and carved. Oval silver knobs chased in the round with winged jellyfish heads. Wooden sticks with clear horn tips and iron inlays. Hallmarks 1798-1809, guarantee hallmarks Old Man's Head Paris, title hallmarks Rooster 1 950 Paris. A.B.E. Consulat-Premier Empire period (old repair of a break on one of the stocks).
