NAPOLEON III (LOUIS-NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, FUTURE). Autograph... - Lot 13 - Osenat
NAPOLEON III (LOUIS-NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, FUTURE). Autograph letter signed "Napoléon Louis Bonaparte", addressed to Paul Franck-Carré, procureur général près la Cour royale de Paris. Conciergerie prison, Paris, August 14, 1840. 2/3 p. folio, address on back. "I am writing to you to ask whether some of the funds found on me in Boulogne could be allocated to my personal needs and those of my fellow prisoners. If this is the case, I would be most grateful if you would give the necessary orders so that my friends and servants can use this money to obtain anything that may help to alleviate their unfortunate situation..." THE SECOND COUP ATTEMPT BY THE FUTURE NAPOLEON III. From England, where he was living in exile, he organized a landing at Boulogne on August 6, 1840: with a few companions, he tried to stir up the army, but was arrested. Transferred to the Conciergerie in Paris, he was tried from September 28 to October 6 at a trial held in the Luxembourg Palace. Convicted, he was locked up in Ham prison, from where he escaped in 1846.
