Bodywork by Panigoni circa 1946 Four-seater bodywork with front doors without central pillar No reserve Getting started... Chassis 57477 was delivered on 13 February 1937 to the agent Monestier at 34 rue de Sèze, Lyon with its 8-cylinder engine (57 C). The car was then most probably bodied by the Ateliers Gangloff as an interior driving at the request of Monestier and his customer. In 1946 José Chazelet took possession of the car and entrusted it to the Marseille coachbuilder Panigoni, who had a reputation as a coachbuilder of pre-war cars. The result was an unusual 4-door saloon car with no central pillar and antagonistic door openings! The car's interior trim is in brown leather and is in very good original condition. The principle of the antagonistic doors without central pillar means that the front doors are opened first in order to be able to manoeuvre the rear doors, which do not have external handles. Headlights, wing supports, floor boxes... Many parts will be delivered with the body. A very interesting basis to create a new body. The treatment of the rear window, but also the fenders, the rear lights and the central moulding on the boot lid are remarkable. These bodywork tricks are reminiscent of the style of the great bodywork designers Figoni & Falaschi, or Saoutchik and their nice details. The future of this bodywork can be multiple. It can be kept as it is to start a Bugatti 57 project, or on the contrary, it can be used to complete a project where the mechanical part is finished. It can be a beautiful decoration object in a garage or an exceptional basis for a new bodywork project as a sedan, cabriolet or coupé.
