1967 OLDSMOBILE TORONADO Serial number: 396877M615590 French registration 8 ! That's how many years it took to complete the Toronado project. Introduced in dealerships on September 24, 1965 as a 1966 model, the unique creation of the Oldsmobile division was based on an avant-garde design, but also on a philosophy that would be adopted across the board some 15 years later at GM, namely front-wheel drive. At the time, many believed that it was impossible to combine front-wheel drive with a big V8 engine. However, the situation changed and when they realized that it was conceivable, they revised their plans. Then they had the brilliant idea of launching an internal competition, a competition whose aim was to put the design of this future revolutionary car on paper. The result is quite spectacular. What is striking about this design is the purity of its lines. And what about the fastback rear end that gives this car a unique look? Up front, critics were very receptive to the retractable headlights perched just above a wide, thin, horizontally arranged grille. This 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado is in good overall condition. The bodywork has a nice patina but is generally sound. Most importantly, the interior is in excellent condition and shows no wear or tear. The mechanics work. Thanks to its excellent handling, the "Toro" was voted "Car of the Year" in 1966 by the influential Motor Trend magazine. 1967 OLDSMOBILE TORONADO Serial number: 396877M615590 French registration 8 !
