1949 BUICK EIGHT ROADMASTER Chassis number... - Lot 54 - Osenat
1949 BUICK EIGHT ROADMASTER Chassis number : L889 Interesting configuration Unusual vehicle The Buick Roadmaster is a car produced from 1936 to 1958, which perfectly illustrates the best of the American car industry. The fourth generation, produced from 1942 to 1948, is longer, wider and lower than the previous models. The hood was double-hinged so that the two engine compartments could be opened, before returning to a classic upward opening. Production ceased during the war before resuming in 1946. On post-war models, chrome was used to a lesser extent and a war-inspired hood ornament was applied. The convertible versions differ from the other models, thanks to a body-colored dashboard instead of wood. On the engine side, no difference with the other models, it sees its power rating drop from 165 to 144 hp, without affecting the torque. Despite this reduction in power, it still ranks above a top-of-the-line Chrysler, its main competitor. It sold 31,400 units, representing 20% of the brand's sales in 1946. This Buick Roadmaster was first registered in 1949. Produced in a convertible body, this car is in a nice general condition. The combination of a green paint job topped with a beige soft top suits it well. The whole is perfect with white sidewall tires. The chromes are in good condition, the bodywork is too. Under this gigantic hood hides a surprisingly quiet inline 8-cylinder engine. Made to travel many miles, this car will take you far and comfortably.
