1955 ROLLS ROYCE - Lot 60
1955 ROLLS ROYCE EX PICASSO Type Silver Cloud Serial number : LS WA34 Sold without registration 10 000 / 15 000 € Judicial sale based on the Paris Court of Appeal ruling of 2022 With its great elegance, its fluid lines make the Silver Cloud the most beautiful of all Rolls-Royce factory-built cars. Despite its imposing proportions, there is no heaviness. Only majesty and distinction. The Silver Cloud succeeded the Silver Dawn in 1955. The engine was derived from that of the Silver Wraith, an in-line six-cylinder with opposed valves - overhead at the intake, sideways at the exhaust. The 4.9-liter engine is of very old origin, but the Cloud benefits from a new light alloy cylinder head. Two SU carburetors replace the single carburetor of the Wraith and Dawn. The car reaches 160 km/h and runs from 0 to 100 km/h in 13 seconds, a flattering figure for a luxury limousine of the time. All this in a cathedral-like silence. The Silver Cloud I was the last six-cylinder Crewe. The presented model was immobilized for a few years but the engine is running and it moves normally. Nevertheless we recommend a complete overhaul. LSWA 34 is the 33rd Silver Cloud built. It is certainly one of the first Silver Clouds delivered to the importer Franco Britannic Autos located in Levallois Perret, in early September 1955. 1st owner: Nouvelle Filature de Cernay, 8 rue de Berri, Paris. 9579 EE 75 on 09.09.1955 2nd owner: Maurice de Temmerman, 39 boulevard du Cdt Charcot, Neuilly/Seine 9579 EE 75 on 20.05.1957 LSWA 34 is taken over by Franco Britannic Autos, importer. 9579 EE 75 on 21.04.1959 3rd owner: Paul Ducatel, company manager, 1 avenue de la Carelle, Villeneuve le Roi. 7119 CX 78 on 24.04.1959 Change of address 25 rue Damesne, Paris 13. 24 HY 75 on 25.04.1959 LSWA 34 is on sale at Ludovic Colombelli, car dealers, 22 Rue de Chartres, Neuilly/Seine, 24 HY 75 the 16.01.1960 4th owner : Paul RUIZ-PICASSO, secretary, 51bis rue de Rennes, Paris 6ème with registration 24 HY 75 the 21.04.1961. It is necessary to specify that Paul Picasso (1921-1975) known as "Paulo Picasso" was born from the 1st marriage of Pablo Picasso with Olga Khokhlova which was celebrated on 12.07.1918 in Paris. From this union was born Paul Picasso, the only child of the couple. He lived all his life in the shadow of his father and served him sometimes as a secretary, sometimes as a driver, hence his passion for luxury cars and the purchase, thanks to the financing of his father, of the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud LSWA 34. We can imagine that Paul Picasso served as a driver to drive his father Pablo Picasso comfortably installed in the back of this prestigious model. Ludovic Colombelli took over the Rolls Royce on 01.10.1962. 5th owner : Dimitri PANEFF, legal adviser, 20 rue de la Michodière, Paris 2nd. 24 HY 75 the 09.10.1963 Dimitri PANEFF is the last identified owner of the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I which was left abandoned but safe for the last 60 years. 1955 ROLLS ROYCE EX PICASSO Type Silver Cloud Serial number: LS WA34 Sold without registration 10 000 / 15 000 € Judicial sale based on the Paris Court of Appeal ruling of 2022 The Silver Cloud's elegant, flowing lines make it the most beautiful of all factory-built Rolls-Royces.
