Mr. B. Collection WITHOUT RESERVATION 1936... - Lot 47 - Osenat
Mr. B. Collection WITHOUT RESERVATION 1936 BUICK CENTURY CONVERTIBLE 66C Serial number : 2891621 One of the rare examples still in existence Same owner for 31 years ! French registration 30 000 / 40 000 Produced in only 717 examples, the Buick Century Convertible model 66C appeared in 1936. The chassis was taken from the Buick Special, which was lengthened by 10 cm, and the engine from the Roadmaster. It is also the same year that Buick definitively names its models with patronymics. Thus, the 40 series becomes Special, the 60 series becomes Century, the 80 series becomes Roadmaster and the 90 series becomes Limited. This new car will be produced in sedan, coupe and convertible body with spider. The engine was an in-line 8-cylinder that propelled the car to 160 km/h. The first generation will evolve until 1942 and will be replaced by the second generation from 1954. This car is one of the 717 produced in convertible body. Owned by a passionate collector since 1992, it was purchased in the United States. The current owner acquired it after years of research, following many family memories with a similar car. A rare piece, it was the subject of a report in V8 Magazine issue 10. The 1936 French workshop manual is included with the car. This car is in a nice general condition. The car starts easily with the accelerator pedal. Once the warm-up time was respected, we were able to enjoy 40 kilometers of roads, highways and city without any problems. The braking system has been revised and the least we can say is that it brakes! Once you get past the notion of double clutching, the car is easy to drive. The interior of the car is also in good condition. This rare car will surely please a lover of unusual American cars. Let's also note that it is equipped with its original 1936 radio (cost 1000S, refurbished in 1994; the antennas are stretched under the steps like the planes of that time). It should be noted that the 40 models (22hp) are quite numerous and that they are less interesting than the century model (30hp) offered for sale here, developing a power of 120cb real, more imposing and infinitely rarer throughout the world (probably about ten). 1936 BUICK CENTURY CONVERTIBLE 66C Serial number: 2891621 One of the few remaining examples Same owner for 31 years !
