1978 RENAULT ESTAFETTE Serial number: R2136A8981822 Nice... - Lot 90 - Osenat
1978 RENAULT ESTAFETTE Serial number: R2136A8981822 Nice "Microbus" version French registration The Renault Estafette is a van produced by the French manufacturer from 1959 to 1980. It was produced in 533 209 units. This car represents the first vehicle with front-wheel drive, launched by the firm. At the beginning of 1950, the Colorale fulfilled the role of a utility vehicle with a payload of 1,400kg, but its Primaquatre engine, high fuel consumption and dissuasive prices made it a real commercial failure. There is therefore a place to be taken in the Renault range for a utility vehicle larger than the 300 kg Juvaquatre van. A young engineer by the name of Guy Grosset-Grange suggested adopting front-wheel drive, as had already been done by Peugeot with the D3/D4 designed initially by Chenard and Walcker, and especially by Citroën with the Type H. Indeed, certain details of its design (three-part rear door, sliding side door) suggest that it was inspired by the success of the Type H, which reigned supreme in this segment. The model presented here is dated 1978. It is a Microbus version that has been beautifully restored. Its windows on the gallery as well as its sliding door and its three rear flaps give it a particular charm. The mechanics of this Estafette work normally. Don't be mistaken, the gearbox is reversed! The engine runs properly, the bodywork is beautiful and so is the upholstery. This Estafette is the perfect vehicle to go on vacation on the French roads. 1978 RENAULT ESTAFETTE Serial number: R2136A8981822 Nice "Microbus" version French registration The Renault Estafette is a van produced by the French manufacturer from 1959 to 1980.
