1973 JAGUAR TYPE D BY RAM - Lot 59
1973 JAGUAR TYPE D BY RAM Serial number : LR000611 Very nice and faithful example Jaguar 3.8L engine French registration " Jaguar Type D by RAM ". Successor of the mythical Jaguar C-Type, the D-Type is a racing car produced by the English manufacturer in order to continue its involvement in competition and particularly in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. If the first one is already famous by winning the race in 1951 and 1953, the second one takes over with success. It won the first place of the podium for the 1955, 1956 and 1957 editions. This success is due to many technical elements that make it a real killer: disc brakes on all four wheels (still rare for racing cars of that time), a 3.4L engine developing 241 horsepower, a monocoque allowing the weight saving of a chassis (as on the Type C) as well as a real work done on the aerodynamics. We owe its design to Malcolm Sayer, just like the design of the E-Type. The Jaguar D-Type will not only illustrate itself at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It also won the 12H of Reims twice, the 12H of Sebring once and the 6H of Pomona and Torrey Pines. Available in two different body styles ("short nose" and "long nose"), the D-Type initially featured a streamlined head restraint and then, in order to improve stability at high speeds, was given a large rear wing. At the end of its career, the engineers exchanged the 3.4L for the 3.8L. This car was produced in the early 70's by RAM. The car has a French registration "Jaguar Type D by RAM" first registered in 1973. It is in a nice general condition, with a short nose body, a removable sharkfin and a windscreen covering the passenger seat. This beautiful car is powered by a Jaguar 4.2L engine with three Weber 45 carburetors. The exhaust system consists of only two types, but a muffler also accompanies it, for those who don't want to wake up their neighbors when they go to get the bread. This car is a unique opportunity to touch the myth of the English Le Mans cars for a reasonable price. 1973 JAGUAR TYPE D BY RAM Serial number : LR000611 Very nice and faithful example Jaguar 3.8L engine French registration " Jaguar Type D by RAM ".
