1980 Ducati WITHOUT RESERVATION In the '70s,... - Lot 26 - Osenat
1980 Ducati WITHOUT RESERVATION In the '70s, Ducati found itself in a delicate financial situation due to the 350 and 500 GTL, which failed to live up to the Italian brand's expectations. In fact, the engine was not the traditional V-twin, but a vertical twin that suffered from unreliability. In 1977, the brand called on Fabio Taglioni, a renowned engineer who had led the brand to numerous competition titles, to rework the engine and provide the reliability it lacked. As for the aesthetics, it was Leopoldo Tartarini, recognized as one of the most influential designers in the motorcycle world, who took charge of giving it a sportier, more seductive look. To achieve this, he proposes a bracelet handlebar, a small seat backrest and cast aluminum rims. The brand will also offer a racing kit for participation in the Desmo 500 Cups. The bike on display is a 1980 Ducati Desmo. Red in color to evoke the Italian brand, it's in beautiful general condition and looks complete. The seat looks like new, the exhaust has a slight patina and the fairings are not broken. The center stand is present and functional. In terms of braking, the bike is equipped with two discs at the front and one at the rear. The mechanics seem to function normally. 1980 Ducati In the 1970s, Ducati found itself in a delicate financial situation because of the 350 and 500 GTL which did not meet the expectations of the Italian brand.
