1922 AMILCAR C4 SPORT Series 6880 A tribute to CC racing French registration 25 000 / 35 000 Amilcar is a French manufacturer founded in 1921, whose name comes from the contraction of the names of its two founders, Joseph Lamy and Émile Akar. The brand made its mark in the world of cycle cars until 1934. Taken over by Hotchkiss, who tried to diversify Amilcar's catalog, the company disappeared with the outbreak of the Second World War. A small car designed for family use, it differs from other CC and CS types in that its chassis has been extended and stiffened to accommodate one or two extra seats. The C4's strengths (simplicity and sturdiness) were recognized and appreciated by customers, enabling this model to be produced until early 1929, whereas the brand's other 6 CVs (CC and CS) ended their careers at the end of 1925. Its strengths made it a great success among the brand's models. This highly reliable, relatively high-performance small car could carry four people at speeds of up to 90 km/h. Although sport was not its primary vocation, this model took part in numerous races, including the 1923 Le Mans 24-hour race. The model offered for sale was restored some fifteen years ago in the spirit of the CC.CS produced by the brand at the same period. It's a tribute to the art of restoration, with a wood frame covered in imitation leather and a genuine CC.CS engine, all in very good condition. After restoration, the car spent time in a museum until the current owner bought it and had it overhauled and put back on the road.
