PAUL JOUVE (1878 - 1973) A passion in the desert - Honoré de Balzac. 1949. Illustrations by Paul Jouve engraved with etching by R. Haasen, published by Maxime Cottet-Dumoulin in Paris. On Arches vellum watermarked with the artist's panther head. Copy n° 25 signed by P. Jouve and M. Cottet-Dumoulin including 9 plates out of text in colors, 3 double-page plates in colors, 54 headbands in black, a plate out of text in black, a continuation of the plates in black. Enriched with an original drawing by Paul Jouve, watercolor drawing heightened with gouache on bistre paper representing a "Panther sitting turned to the left", signed in lower left 21,5 x 17cm. (Small freckles at the bottom, a little yellowed). Nice copy slightly yellowed, small freckles and scattered pitting at the edge of the leaves, publisher's jacket and wrapper in imitation snake skin (some wear). Total dimensions : 34,5 x 26,7 cm
