Year : 1980 CORMORANT Model : OCN category Type : 500 cm3 promotion formula Length : 3,40 m Width : 1,27 m Weight: approx. 150 kg Number of seat(s): 1 The Cormorant shipyard, based in Mâcon and created by the pilot Roger Moreau, was certainly the first French workshop to design outboard racing catamarans in the mid-1960s. This brand, an acronym for "Construction Roger Moreau et André Lefort", entered its first "ON" category boats in endurance races at the Six Heures de Paris and the 24 Heures de Rouen. Its drivers reached the podium twenty-one times between 1968 and 1973 and broke the world record for the 5 mile race at 96.17 km/h. The OCN category was created at the end of the 1970s as a one-design promotion formula shared by the French and Italian federations. These small propriders, of which Cormorant was the official supplier, were equipped with Mercury, Johnson or Selva 500cc production engines.
