Power : approx. 150 hp. When in 1950 Carlo Timossi, 46 years old, bought a place on the shores of Lake Como, he already had experience in boat building thanks to a long family tradition. However, far from work boats or peaceful pleasure boats, he devoted all his talent to motorboat racing. Moreover, his next-door neighbor was Guido Abbate, one of the pioneers of the revival of this sport in post-war Italy. This unique combination made the small town of Azzano a Mecca for the construction of some of the best three-point racers in the world, and the two competitors quickly built up an impressive record of achievements with the greatest champions in all categories, from the smallest to the most powerful. The Timossi hold several world records and countless championship victories with drivers such as Mario Verga, the Flavio brothers or Liborio Guidotti and Achille Castoldi whose famous Arno XI with a Ferrari V12 compressor engine was timed at 241 km/h in 1953. This Timossi can be considered today one of the most historical boats in the world in relation to its length. In the same year, Liborio Guidotti took delivery of his new 2,8 l. racer with which he raced for two international seasons and then gave it to Louis Delacour in 1955. At that time, French and Italian pilots often meet and appreciate each other. The best transalpine creations like this Timossi easily changed hands, sold or exchanged from time to time to compete in this or that round of national, European or world championships. Each pilot keeps his race number from one year to the next. Thus, Louis Delacour's boat regularly carries the n°11 but we also see him racing in the European Racers Championship in Aix-les-Bains in 1957 under the n°12 when he is driven by Armand Machat to whom Delacour has lent his racer for the occasion. Louis Delacour entered the 2.8 litre, 500 kg M class and did not hesitate to take on competitors in the more powerful KD 800 and KD 900 kg classes. It continued to animate French and European races until the beginning of the 1960s, including the annual meeting in Monaco where the presence of the best Italian drivers was always very marked. For a long time stored without engine, this Timossi with its characteristic aluminium fairing was acquired in 1992 by Jean Van Praet who had it entirely restored in a conservative way by preserving as well as possible the original wood which could still face the constraints of speed. It is then equipped, in replacement of the initial BPM SS 2600, with an excellent 4-cylinder BPM Ionic of 2.8 l. This engine is entrusted to its original manufacturer, the BPM factory in Verona, in March 1994 for revision and preparation in the rules of art. This Timossi ex-Guidotti and Delacour is then regularly noticed during historical races until the end of the years 2000 before being carefully preserved since.
