1989 LUCINI R 1500N Elena II Type : Racer... - Lot 15 - Osenat
1989 LUCINI R 1500N Elena II Type : Racer 3 points Length : 4,25 m Width : 2,10 m Weight : 350 kg Number of seat(s) : 1 Engine : Alfa Romeo Type : 4 cylinders in line Displacement : 1,5 l. Power : approx. 145 hp. In the 1980s, while international motorboat racing was dominated by catamarans with outboard engines, some Italian pilots remained very attached to the "classic" piloting of 3-point racers with inboard engines, a heritage from the 1940s and 1950s with a peak in the 1960s. The Italian Federation therefore took the initiative to maintain specific categories with several cylinders marked with the letter N for "Nazionale". This example was built in 1989 to enter, from the beginning, in the R 1500N category. It is the work of the Lucini shipyard in Lipomo, on the outskirts of Como. Founded in the early 1970s as Lucini & Frigerio, the company quickly established itself at the highest level in various outboard and inboard categories. Lucini is a talented builder and restorer and has been entrusted with such important historical pieces as the famous San Marco KD 800 with a Ferrari V12 375 MM engine from 1957. In 1989, it was the driver Paolo Romagnoli who started racing this 1500 racer with the number 77. For four seasons, he competed in the Italian championship under the colors of the Annabella Racing Team. From 1994 to 1997, the boat passed into the hands of the Swiss driver Fausto Spacio from Campione d'Italia in Ticino, who raced with the number 64 in the R 1500 category (not limited to Italian drivers) in various competitions with good results: - Best lap in the Italian regularity championship at 136.106 km/h in 1994 - 2nd in the Trofeo Città di Stagno di Roccabianca and 2nd in the R1500 category in the Trofeo Due Ponti, in Boretto the same year. - 5th in the Pavia-Venezia race in 1995 at an average speed of 132.463 km/h and 1st in the R category. - 3rd in the Gran Premio Città di Campione in 1995. Jean Van Praet acquired it in 1998 and participated in various historical gatherings from that year onwards with this still very successful racer.
