1960 - Lot 13
1960 Club Racer KA 250 Type : Racer 3 points Length : 4,50 m Width : 1,80 m Weight : 250 kg Number of seat(s) : 1 Engine : Peugeot 403 Type : 4 cylinders in line Displacement : 1,3 l. Power : approx. 50 hp. At the end of the 1950s, the lightest of the international three-point racer classes - the 250 kg KA class - existed on paper in continental Europe but was not very widespread. A group of amateur pilots from clubs in Normandy decided to create a small series of hulls to organize a direct confrontation in the same category without going through compensation formulas with heavier boats. These racers will also participate in international meetings like the Grand-Prix of Caen in 1962. These racers are handcrafted on shapes from the famous and unbeatable American firm Ventnor, the inventor of the three-point hull. Some of them will be fitted with Renault R8 engines, others, like this one, with Peugeot 203 engines. It was found in Normandy in the 1990's without an engine, then entirely restored by Hervé Fressard who fitted it with a Peugeot 403 engine. Jean Van Praet had the fairing repainted in blue. Rare archive photos show it in full competition in the early 1960s. It is probably one of the last two survivors of this original series of less than ten units, if not the last.
