"Uniforms of the French and foreign infantry in the service of France according to the regulations of 1767 according to the best documents of the time by Lucien Rousselot, Paris 1955. 133 plates plus frontispiece and name page mounted on tabs. Bound in 2 volumes (66 and 67 plates) large in-4 (27,5 X 39,5) with full dark green leather binding decorated with gilt fleur-de-lis on the spine and corners of the boards. Each plate, printed was hand colored by the colorist Pillas according to the instructions of Rousselot. Our copy is that of Master Georges-Antoine Chresteil (1920-1997) great collector and member of the "Compagnie d'élite. B.E. The "compagnie d'élite" was a group of demanding amateurs and collectors who produced from 1939 to 1961 various publications in very limited editions for their benefit. In 1955, they entrusted their most important project to Maître Lucien Rousselot, the representation of the French and foreign infantry according to the 1767 regulations. The 133 plates present all the regiments, with each time the simple soldier and sometimes an officer and a drummer. Due to the high cost, only 10 prints were made, each one with a name.
