1983 Pernod
For a long time a simple sponsor, the Pernod brand of spirits decided in 1981 to start manufacturing a Grand Prix motorcycle designed and assembled in France. To do so, the brand called upon Jean Bidalot, a renowned engineer and designer of the Motobécane 125. This racing machine will be on the track in 1981, the goal being to have a motorcycle ready for the next season. Its two-cylinder engine of 250 cm2 two times cooled by water proves to be reliable and offers to the pilot good levels of performances since it develops all the same 65 horses. Thierry Espie will raise for the first time on the podium his machine at the Grand Prix of Great Britain 1982 and will sign on this same circuit the following year the only and unique victory of the team in GP. To this day, the Pernod 250 Grand Prix is the only French-made bike to have won an international GP. This bike was sold to the current owner by Jacques Bollé himself. It is entirely original and the engine has been restored by Marc Auboiron.
