NAPOLEON I. Piece signed "Np", in Italian. Palais des Tuileries in Paris, February 12, 1810. 1 p. in-folio, printed header; framed under glass. "Napoleone, per la grazia di Dio e per le Costituzioni, imperatore de' Francesi, re d'Italia [...]. Abbiamo decretato e decretiamo quanto segue: è accordato alla vedova del consigliere di Stato Magnani, dal giorno in cui quest[o] è cessato di vivere, un' annua pensione vitalizia di quattro mila lire d'Italia..." Translation: "Napoleon, by the grace of God and by the Constitutions, Emperor of the French, King of Italy [...]. We have decreed and decree the following: it is granted to the widow of the Councillor of State Magnani, from the day when he ceased to live, an annual life pension of four thousand Italian lire..." ITALIAN NOTABLE RALLYING TO THE NAPOLEONIAN REGIME, IGNAZIO MAGNANI (1740-1809) was an important jurisconsult and magistrate, native of Bologna. A moderate Jacobin, he was a deputy and director under the Cispadane Republic, a member of the Consulate of Lyon in 1802, then a member of the Legislative Council of the Italian Republic, before being appointed State Councillor in the Justice section under the Kingdom of Italy (1805), and in this position contributed to the drafting of the new Napoleonic legislation introduced in the Kingdom. In 1807, he wanted to end his life in his native city and was appointed President of the Court of Appeal of Bologna.
