Pair of mahogany veneered straight sheath-shaped... - Lot 248 - Osenat
Pair of mahogany veneered straight sheath-shaped bed frames topped with antique-style women's heads, decorated with palmettes, scrolls and resting on human feet and a square gilt bronze base. Empire period (small chips, small lacks, wear). Ht: 114 cm Related work: The beds in mahogany and mahogany veneer with bronzes are among the most careful models: the richness of the decoration depends on the number of bronze parts, although they are only two earlier elements of a bed, they can be compared to those of the bed delivered in 1806 by François-Honoré Jacob-Desmalter for Prince Eugène's bedroom at the Tuileries Palace and kept at the Château de Malmaison Bibliography : "Mobilier Français consulat-Empire" J.P Samoyault, Paris 2009, Gourcuff Ed. p.78, fig. 141.
