CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABER. Handle in squared ebony. Mounting in gilded brass, chased and engraved. Short skirt cap. Hilt with a hollowed out branch and two shuttle-like pommels, nicely chased with floral and foliage motifs, curved quillon downwards. Beautiful curved blade with flat back, counter-edge and hollow sides, engraved, gilded and blued to the third of foliage, trophies of arms and foliage scrolls. Gilded brass scabbard, decorated with bouquets, water leaves, foliage and scrolls, with two chased bracelets and two brass rings. B.E. Directoire/Empire period
