BRITISH CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABER IN THE ORIENTAL STYLE. Handle with plates (cracks) with two rivet buttons and eyelet of strap. Chased and gilded brass guard with two straight quillons ending in olive and leafy auricles. Curved counter-edged blade, acid-etched with intersecting spears and foliate scrolls, signed on the heel "DAVIES & SON 19 Hanover St Hanover Sq London". Scabbard in iron sheet (minor pitting) with two bracelets and cut brass bolt. A.B.E. About 1850
