THE KING OF ROME WHISTLE RATTLE WITH THE PROFILE OF THE KING OF ROME. Flat body in the shape of a tambourine, with four bells, decorated on both sides with the profile of the King of Rome under a crown in a frame of laurel leaves and horns of plenty, surmounting a cartouche with the she-wolf feeding Romulus and Remus. Mother-of-pearl handle (wear and tear). Swan hallmark. A.B.E. (Small period repair to the silver ferrule). First Empire period. History : This rattle is in the model of those of the King of Rome of which we find two examples in the national collections, the openwork one, with coral handle given to Mrs Marchand of the same model of tambourine as ours (collections of the Castle of Fontainebleau) .
