"HORTENSE DE BEAUHARNAIS" IN FACE Miniature circled in brass and presented on a wooden frame decorated with the imperial eagle. 9,5 x 3,5 cm. B.E. Late 19th century, early 20th century. Hortense (Paris 1783-Arenenberg 1837), sister of the preceding, queen of Holland, duchess of Saint-Leu. Daughter of Joséphine Tascher de La Pagerie and her first husband, Alexandre de Beauharnais, she married, in 1802, Louis Bonaparte, who was to become king of Holland in 1806. After the abdication of Louis (1810), she lived separated from him. She ended her days in exile. From her husband, she had three sons, of whom only Charles Louis Napoleon (1808), the future Napoleon III, survived. She was also the mother of the duke of Morny (1811), fruit of her liaison with the count of Flahaut. She wrote memoirs.
