SOUVENIRS DE LA FAMILLE GAUTHIER DE ROUGEMONT -Death certificate of Alexis Martial Eugene Napoleon de Rougemont, at the age of 18 months. On blue paper. Printed header "REGISTRY OF DEATH IN THE ISLAND OF ST HELENA" Handwritten annotations of the date of death "16 ocotber 1861". The child, who died of convulsions, was the son of Baron Nicolas Martial Gauthier de Rougemont, a senior cavalry officer attached to the suite of the Emperor's Military Household, as guardian of the Emperor's tomb. -Two notebooks of 7 handwritten pages, identical, presenting in English language the list of goods sold in public sale on January 15, 1867 on order of the Baron Gauthier de Rougemont. The total is 200 pounds. History: The squadron leader Nicolas Martial Gauthier de Rougemont, is the first curator of the estates of St. Helena. He is an old officer who made forty campaigns of which that of Waterloo. He arrived in Saint Helena on June 30, 1858. He returned to France in 1867 and died shortly after burying in the family vault the child mentioned on the death certificate, whose coffin he had kept in his chapel.
