ITALY Silver medal of the Sardinian Military Valor, awarded to Leone Beniamino of the Royal Carabinieri Legion of Ancona (1885). In silver, signed "F.G.", with a wire hoop. Reverse side with attribution in strong relief: "CE RIGNO LA" in the center and on the circumference "LEONOE BENIAMINO IL 17 FEBRAIO 1885" (Wear, to be cleaned). Ribbon slightly insolated with button attachment "MODE DE PARIS" 34 mm. Net weight: 19 g. Presented framed under glass with its patent in Italian language of the Ministry of War numbered 14396, with citation and dry stamp of the Ministry. A.B.E. History: Leone BENIAMINO, appointed to the Royal Carabinieri Legion of Ancona, was on patrol in Cerignola (in Puglia) on February 17, 1885 when he confronted with exemplary courage two criminals. Although he was wounded by a rifle shot, he entered their house without being impressed by the number of other people present, disarmed them and arrested them.
