LETTER PATENT OF SISTER NICOLAS VIMAR " Napoleon by the grace of God Emp. Of the French, King of Italy". Diploma of Count of the Empire on vellum parchment with coat of arms painted au naturel in the upper left corner. Signed by the Emperor " Napol " and by the archchancellor of the Empire " Cambacérès ". Given in Bayonne in May 1808. 68 x 60 cm Framed under glass. Gilded wood frame with palmettes Coat of arms: Azure, to the cross of Lorraine of silver, filled of sable, quarter of count winged of sable. Partially erased. Biography: Born in Mesnière (Seine-inférieur), on October 30, 1744, Nicolas VIMAR was a political leader from the Revolution until the Restoration. Lawyer and prosecutor of Rouen since 1788, he was deputy to the States General, to the Legislative, to the Council of Ancients and then senator (1799). He was counted as a member of the Empire in 1808 by this letter, but he played an active role in the end of the Empire by voting for the defection of the Emperor on April 3, 1814 and the execution of Marshal Ney on December 6, 1815. He was a member of the commission in charge of the drafting of the Charter, a condition for the return of Louis XVIII to the throne of his fathers. On June 4, 1814, he was appointed by the King as a peer of France.
