G.A.M. FRENCH SCHOOL OF THE LATE NINETEENTH CENTURY. "Portrait of Colonel von Landten, in infantry uniform (after 1812), wearing the knight's star of the Legion of Honor of the 1st type " Oil on canvas signed and dated G.A.M. 1864 (accidents). 74 x 60 cm. Gilded frame. Biography: Jean Georges von Landten (1765-1820) A native of Bitche, he wears his knight's star of the 1st type, obtained in Year 12. Our man served in the light infantry under the Empire, and was placed on leave in the infantry under the Restoration. The background evokes Spain where he fought in 1809.
