INVENTORY OF THE SILVER OF THE TUILERIES Inventory of 16 pages printed and annotated in pen. On the title page marked "MAISON DE L'EMPEREUR" a remaining mention in pencil "Inventory of the silverware of the Tuileries intended to be given to the administration of the coins (...) in the presence of M.A d'Yvon delegate of the civil list by M.M.d'Entraygues curator of the material Dupuis controller to M.M. Victor Fronserd auditor of the domains and Alfred Feuillet receiver of the domains delegated for this purpose by Mr the director of the domains of the department of the Seine by the letter of October 8, 1870 n°1421, October 20 and 21, 1870. " In a modern cloth board marked with a small iron in gold 47 x 32 cm. Provenance: Sale Librairie Historique Teissèdre, 2004, n° 124 Private collection The inventory includes a description of the objects, their weight, their estimation and their destination. Some are to be melted down. This inventory follows the decision of October 7, 1870 of the Minister of Finance to melt the silverware of the Tuileries: "Considering that the securities coming from the palaces and residences of the former emperor returned to the State, and that the Nation has the free provision of it, DECREES: ART. 1. The Minister of Finance is authorized to make convert immediately into money, with the type of the Republic, the silverware coming from the palaces and residences which formed part of the old civil list. 2. Art objects made of gold, silver or vermeil are excepted from this measure."
