FRENCH SCHOOL OF THE 19TH CENTURY. Portrait of Anne-Eve Mortier de Treviso Pastel with oval view Gilded wood frame (wear) 58 x 44 cm (with view) 84 x 65 cm (with frame)€ Biography: Anne-Eve Mortier de Treviso is the daughter of Napoleon Mortier, second Duke of Treviso, and Anne-Marie Lecomte-Stuart. She married César de Faÿ, marquis de La Tour-Maubourg, in 1849. In 1853, she joined the new court of the empress, which consisted of a Grand Mistress, a lady-in-waiting, as well as six (later twelve) ladies of the palace, each of whom alternated one week of service, and most of whom were chosen by the empress before her marriage. She is notably represented in the famous painting by Frantz Xaver Winterhalter "Empress Eugenie surrounded by her ladies-in-waiting", dating from 1855.
