A SPATH-FLUOR ORNAMENT VASE, the scrolled... - Lot 120 - Osenat
A SPATH-FLUOR ORNAMENT VASE, the scrolled handles with scrolls and the simulated lotus leaf and pinecone lid, standing on a pedestal and square counter-socle with emarche, (probably on a pedestal originally, missing two garlands, on each side of the vase). Attributed to Matthew Boulton (1728-1809). England, circa 1770-1775. H : 28 cm A similar white marble vase by Matthew Boulton, dated circa 1772 and of identical size, is now in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Without a base like the vase shown, it has retained its garlands of foliage joining the handles. A pair of fluorspar vases also very similar was sold in Paris at Sotheby's on November 28, 2016, lot 280.
