CASE IN MARQUETRY of tortoiseshell veneer, the lid of curved form, decorated with gilt bronze and silver hinges with busts of men, lions and tigers fighting presented in mascarons and foliage spandrels. The interior covered with crimson velvet. Middle of the 17th century. Height: 19 cm - Width: 45,5 cm - Depth: 24 cm (small restorations, feet brought back at a later date.). A case attributed to Jean Armand (circa 1600-1670) with a comparable decoration of hinges was sold at Versailles, Osenat study, on May 23, 2020, lot 22 and an important pair of mirrors also attributed to Jean Armand (circa 1600-1670) with a decoration of hinges reminding ours was sold at Paris, Beaussant Lefèvre study, on June 10, 2009, lot 139.
