RARE SMALL BOX IN GOLDEN COPPER AND BRASS The chased, engraved and cut lid, with lock entrance and key. The four sides finely engraved with flowering vases. Reinforcements in cut copper with sides, resting on four round feet. Opened, it presents in the hinged lid, a fine blued steel lock with four pennants formed by two facing "L" and cut foliage. With its tiny oval daylight key, round stem. Length : 7,3 cm - Width : 4,7 cm - Height : 4,2 cm Work in the tradition of Michael MANN, active in Augsburg, then in Nuremberg, between 1590 and 1630. Germany, Nuremberg, About 1600 Provenance: Note that by family tradition this box has always been accompanied by a handwritten bill in pen "Box whose Louis XVI made the key and lock. Sold by Mr. Le chevalier de Thiery. Ci joint the receipt. P.Margry." and the receipt: "I recognize to have received from Mr. Margry the sum of forty francs (...) receipt. Paris this 2 March 1866.
