1955 CHRYSLER IMPERIAL COUPE C69
1955 CHRYSLER IMPERIAL COUPE C69 Serial number C554595 Famous V8 with hemispherical combustion chamber Superb condition Signed Virgil Exner Collector's French title Since the company's founding in 1923, each new Chrysler model has created a sensation, significantly influencing the entire American, if not global, manufacturing industry. The term Imperial was first attributed to the luxury models produced by Chrysler before, in 1955, it officially became the group's top-of-the-line brand. The goal was to compete with Cadillac by producing uncompromising automobiles in which luxury was at its peak. The Imperial Crown was, in the mid-1960s, the spearhead of Chrysler, its measurements unparalleled, and its equipment smelled of luxury and technology. It was the car of ambassadors, American ministers and other business leaders. The car we present here is the first Imperial officially presented as a brand. It is the C69 model in Coupé bodywork, equipped with the famous Hemi V8 that develops almost 250 horsepower. The automatic gearbox installed on the dashboard is a delight and falls perfectly under the hand. Produced at 3418 copies for the year 1955, this model is almost unique in France. An important restoration has been undertaken on the car in terms of mechanics, bodywork and upholstery. The bodywork is very healthy, the paint was redone in 2000 as well as the chromes and the body joints. As the car has not been driven much in the last few years, it will need to be restarted. Note that the refinement was pushed at the time, until gilding the medallions of the quarter windows with fine gold! So if you like what is shiny and rare, this car is made for you!
