SIAM, 19th CENTURY Long accordion manuscript, comprising 102 leaves, 6 of which are illustrated with colored vignettes and 80 with calligraphy. It is followed by metaphysical texts and then by the story, in Siamese, of Phra Malai, a Buddhist monk who accumulated so many merits that he acquired supernatural powers. Dated 1872, as specified in a handwritten note by Georges Coedes (1886-1969), a member of the EFEO (Ecole Française d'Extrême-Orient), a great specialist of Southeast Asia, where he lived for many years, notably in Bangkok and then in Hanoi, and to whom this manuscript was shown in 1958. This note describes it briefly. Total dimensions : H. 68,5 cm - L. 1428 cm (L. each leaf : 14 cm) EXPERT : Anne Papillon-Dalton, cabinet ANSAS
