IMPORTANT RING holding an oval ruby of approximately... - Lot 194 - Osenat
IMPORTANT RING holding an oval ruby of approximately 9 carats in a surround of navette diamonds. Mounted in 18K white gold. French work. LFG certificate: ruby, marble-like deposit, no indication of treatment, deep red. Dimensions ruby : 14.2 x 11.2 x 6.6 mm approximately. TDD : 53.5. Gross weight : 7.21 gr. A marble type deposit ruby, diamond and white gold ring. Appendix LFG: Marble type deposit rubies were formed mainly during the Himalayan orogeny (started ca. 45 million years ago). They can be found in many deposits around the world, such as the famous Mogok deposits in Myanmar (Burma), Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Vitnam. The combination of gemological, chemical and spectroscopic characteristics of rubies from marble-type deposits does not always allow for an exact origin to be determined. However, the characteristics of these deposits are different from those observed in rubies from deposits of different geological context, such as Mozambique, Madagascar and Thailand.
