The history of the name Royal Oak begins in the 17th century when Charles II took refuge in a tree, a "Royal Oak" after his defeat against Cromwell. The name Royal Oak was used as a good luck charm to designate the ships of the Royal Navy at the beginning of the 20th century, such as the HMS Royal Oak. It was from the hull of the cuirassier that Gérald Genta, a true precursor of modern watchmaking design, drew his inspiration to create the bracelet so characteristic of this watch. A stainless steel self-winding wristwatch by Audemars Piguet.
