FRENCH SCHOOL OF THE 19TH CENTURY, WORKSHOP OF BARON GERARD Portrait of King Charles X in coronation costume Oval canvas Height : 84 cm Width : 70,5 cm Bust of the official portrait of King Charles X, in feet, in habit and with the insignia of the coronation, by Baron Gérard, commissioned in 1824 and exhibited at the Salon of 1825 (Museum of the Château de Versailles), where it was a great success. Other versions are kept in the Louvre Museum, the Palais du Tau in Reims and the Museo del Prado in Madrid. The image was also used in the weaving of a tapestry at the Gobelins. Provenance : Marquis Hippolyte de GUEULLY de RUMIGNY (1784-1871), Minister of France in HOBOKIN (Belgium) in 1828, son-in-law of Marshal Édouard MORTIER de TREVISE (1768-1835). Count Louis-Maris d'HURSEL (1809-1886), then descendants.
