1938 SIMCA 5 DECOUVRABLE
Serial number 26820 Desirable convertible version Collector's french title The year 1936 in France is the Popular Front, Léon Blum, the 40-hour work week and paid vacations. In the automotive world, a wonderful little car is born. The Simca Cinq was officially presented on March 10, 1936 at the Nanterre factory. It is the French version of the first Fiat 500, which will go down in history as the "Topolino". The genius Dante Giacosa is the "father" of this car. The engineer Giacosa, who spent his entire career at Fiat, is considered one of the most important car designers. Although designed and developed in Italy by Fiat, it was the French version of SIMCA that was presented first. It was launched in France almost three months before its presentation in Italy. The objective of this car was simple: to transport two people for a very small price. For that a small car is enough, the dimensions are thus very contained and the weight is weak. The car measures 3,21m for 1,27 m of width and weighs only 535 kg. The engine is a small 4 cylinders of 569cc with side valves developing 13cv, the gearbox has four speeds. Economical, it is under the control of the Automobile Club de France that the Paris-Madrid and return journeys (2 500 km) are carried out with a consumption of 3,624 liters of gasoline per 100 km. At the test of the "5 liter can", it makes 160,460 km at the average of 55 km/h, that is to say a consumption of 3,1 liters of gasoline per 100 km. A logical advertising slogan appears: "The Simca 5, a bird's appetite". The Simca 5 we offer is in a very nice state of preservation with a two-tone paint of an elegant burgundy on its body and a deep black on its wings. Its cognac cloth interior is perfectly coordinated with the whole. Mechanically, the small 12 horsepower 4 cylinder engine crackles perfectly, this reliable and economical engine will take you to the end of the world; if you are not in a hurry. Terribly appealing, the Simca 5 is a reflection of the post-war European economic rebound. Stand out from the Fiat 500 armada and enjoy life at 60 km/h.
