1907 FORTIN JOURDAIN
Sultan Lethimonnier engine Type 84F N° 541 Only surviving model To be registered in collection "Jules Fortin was born in Paris in 1856. He became an electrician and settled in boulevard Rocheplatte, in Orléans, in a shed where the carriages parked in front of the Orléans railway station were stored (the railway having been created in 1843, with the Paris-Orléans line). Jules Fortin, a good electrician, oversaw the maintenance of the generator that supplied electricity to the cinema "le Royal", which used to be the old winter circus: "l'Alhambra". In the garage of the boulevard Rocheplatte, Jules was associated with his son-in-law, Charles Jourdain who oversaw the commercial part. Thus, around 1909, the first vehicles left the workshop. In fact, very few Fortin-Jourdain cars were produced; seven have been counted and only one example still exists today", source: “Club des anciennes du Loiret”. More than 1 400 car brands were present in France before the war. The current owner bought the vehicle in 1981 from the son of the manufacturer, a resident of the Loiret region, who found this rolling chassis in a barn. He restored the 4-cylinder engine Sultan- Lethimonnier Paris. And then he restored the bodywork. We offer you the unique opportunity to acquire a piece of French automotive history from Orleans!
