THE MINIER BATTALION CHIEF Seal with the arms of Jean-Baptiste Minier, knight of the Empire, battalion chief of the 61st line. Handle in hard stone, sky blue, carved. Steel seal. Height 6,5cm. 1,5x1,5cm. B.E. Jean Baptiste MINIER (1768-1829) Entered the service at the age of 23 as sergeant-major in the 9th battalion of the Somme, which became the 61st regiment of line infantry, on September 2, 1791. Lieutenant of gunners on February 4, 1793. Appointed captain on Ventôse 18, Year 2, then chief of battalion in the 61st line infantry for his good conduct at the battle of Jena in 1806. Knight of the Legion of Honor on July 7, 1807. Put on leave on October 8, 1808, unable to continue because of his numerous wounds : a gunshot to the left leg at Tournai in year 2, another to the left foot in year 7 and a gunshot that crossed the kneecap of his right knee at Jena in 1806.
