23. BONAPARTE (Elisa). 3 letters signed "Elisa", one with 7 autographed words and one with 5 autographed words, addressed to the Secretary of State of the Imperial Family Michel-Louis-Étienne Regnaud de Saint-Jean d'Angély. 1809-[1810] Elisa Bonaparte always tried to favour the activity of the Carrara quarries, situated in her grand duchy of Tuscany, and made a number of commissions for busts representing personalities of the Empire and more widely of her time, which she offered liberally on a personal or diplomatic basis with commercial ulterior motives. Pisa, 13 November 1809. "I WISHED TO HAVE THE BUSTES OF THE FAMILY EXECUTED AND EXPEDITED FROM CARRARA DELIVERED TO HIS MAJESTY THE EMPEROR ONLY ON JANUARY 1, but the fear of His Majesty's absence at that time makes me wish that they be placed in one of the cabinets of the Thuileries for the anniversary of the Coronation..." - Livorno, 7 December 1809. « ...
