22. BONAPARTE (Elisa). Letter signed "Elisa"... - Lot 22 - Osenat
22. BONAPARTE (Elisa). Letter signed "Elisa" with 6 autograph lines, addressed to the Secretary of State of the Imperial Family Michel-Louis-Étienne Regnaud de Saint-Jean d'Angély. S.l., [late 1809 or early 1810]. 1 p. folio "My dear count, I recommended you all the Tuscan deputies to the Legislative Body, they are all worthy of your good offices, but I RECLAME PARTICULARLY YOUR GOODNESS FOR M. ALESSANDRI MY FIRST CHAMBELLAN [the president of the Florence Academy of Fine Arts Giovanni degli Alessandri, deputy for Arno in the Legislative Body] who will have the honour of delivering this letter to you: I will be grateful for anything you do in favour of this new legislator for whom I have a particular benevolence, in his timid manner you will find it difficult to recognise at first a very enlightened, very generous protector of the arts and artists, he is President of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, but your affability and kindness will soon dispel his timidity. [In her own hand, Archduchess Elisa added: "Receive, my dear Count, the assurance of my affection... HE IS ACCOMPANIED BY THE PAINTER [PIETRO] BENVENUT[I] WHO HAS A GREAT TALENT, HE IS THE FIRST PAINTER OF HISTORY IN TUSCANY. I particularly recommend him to you, he brings with him my portrait which I will have delivered to His Majesty on the first of the year, I will write to you about it... ".
